The show might be called Heartstopper, but our hearts are still beating really fast after that emotional season that brought all our favorite couples to the next level. And with Charlie and Nick's story slowly coming to an end in the comics, then we know that it's almost time to say goodbye to one of our favorite and most heartfelt series. But that doesn't mean that it'll be ending any time soon...right, Netflix?! Well, fans are wondering if there's more of the story left after the finale.

So is season 4 of Heartstopper happening?
There is more to Charlie and Nick's story to tell. In fact, creator Alice Oseman is working on it right now, telling The Guardian, "I am. I’m only 50 pages in, but I know what’s going to happen, what all the dialogue is going to be, and now I’m just sitting down and drawing it, which is my favourite bit."
But while that would obviously mean a fourth season, the show actually won't be back for a final goodbye. In fact, Netflix is ending Nick and Charlie's story with a movie! The streamer revealed the news on April 22, 2025 and Alice Oseman is already working on the script!
What will the Hearstopper film be about?
While Alice is still working on the official story, Netflix did give us a slight glimpse to what we can expect with the movie's official synopsis.
"Nick and Charlie are inseparable, but with Nick preparing to leave for university and Charlie finding new independence at school, the reality of a long-distance relationship begins to weigh on them. Doubts take hold, and their relationship faces its biggest challenge yet. Meanwhile, their friends are also navigating the ups and downs of love and friendship, confronting the bittersweet challenges of growing up and moving on. Can first loves really last forever?"
Alice also noted that whatever would happen next would also include stuff from other big Heartstopper moments.
"If we get a fourth season of the show, it will use volume 6 of Heartstopper and the Nick and Charlie novella as the source material," Alice wrote in her Patreon. "I am very much hoping that there will be a fourth season, so the show gets to have a proper ending! I'm praying to the gods! Begging on my knees! Having nightmares about it regularly, etc!"
When will the Heartstopper film be released?
An official release date hasn't been revealed yet, but filming is set to begin summer 2025. Which means it shouldn't be too long now until we can see Nick and Charlie again!
